The M8/A8 Trunk Road (Baillieston to Bargeddie) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) Order 2019

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A  of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of road:

1. That length of the M8/A8 Edinburgh - Greenock Trunk Road, being the eastbound off slip at Junction 8 to the Bargeddie Roundabout, a distance of 730 metres or thereby.

2. That length of the M8/A8 Edinburgh – Greenock Trunk Road, being the eastbound carriageway of the A8 from a point 69 metres or thereby southeast of the point where the centreline of that carriageway intersects with the extended centreline of the road known as Swinton Avenue, Baillieston to the point where the extended centreline of the eastbound carriageway of the A8 intersects with the centreline of the circulatory carriageway of the Bargeddie Roundabout, a distance of 1.31 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interests of road safety for the Pedal For Scotland cycle event, will be in place from 7th September 2019 until 9th September 2019, and the prohibitions contained in the Order will only have effect in relation to such lengths of road specified above when indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be in operation between 2200hrs on 7th September and 1600hrs on 8th September.

The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire and rescue, coastguard, ambulance or police purposes; or any vehicle being used for facilitating the holding of the event.
