The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Minishant) (Temporary 20mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2026

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph and 40mph speed restrictions on the following lengths of road:

20MPH

That length of the M77/A77 Glasgow - Stranraer Trunk Road at Minishant from a point 122 metres or thereby north of the extended centre line of its junction with The Beeches in a southwesterly direction to a point 177 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with Mure Place, a distance of 685 metres or thereby.

40MPH

That length of the M77/A77 Glasgow - Stranraer Trunk Road at Minishant from a point 122 metres or thereby north of the extended centre line of its junction with The Beeches in a northerly direction to a point 424 metres or thereby north of the extended centre line of its junction with The Beeches, a distance of 296 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 24th January 2026 until 24th July 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

Alternative Routes

An alternative route is not required.

The Scottish Ministers have made the following statement regarding children’s rights.
“In accordance with section 23(2) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the Act), the Scottish Ministers certify that, in their view, The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Minishant) (Temporary 20mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2026 is compatible with the UNCRC requirements as defined by section 1(2) of the Act.”
