The M77/A77 Trunk Road (Maybole Bypass) (Temporary 30mph and 40mph Speed Restrictions) Order 2022

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a 30mph and 40mph speed restriction on the following lengths of road:-

30mph Speed Restriction

That length of the M77/A77 Glasgow - Stranraer Trunk Road from a point 315 metres southwest of its junction with the B7045 to a point 50 metres southwest of the point where it meets the circulatory carriageway of the Smithston roundabout, a distance of 500 metres or thereby.

40mph Speed Restriction

That length of the M77/A77 Glasgow – Stranraer Trunk Road from a point 50 metres southwest of the point where it meets the circulatory carriageway of the Smithston roundabout to a point 400 metres southwest of the point where it meets the entrance to the private property known as Broomknowes Farm, a distance of 5 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, which is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the lengths of road, will be in force from 31 January 2022 until 30 April 2022. The restrictions contained in the Order will only have effect in relation to the lengths of road specified above when indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. The speed restrictions imposed by the Order do not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces)(Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations or to vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.
