The A85 Trunk Road (Oban) (Temporary Prohibition On Use Of Road) (No. 4) Order 2022

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, temporarily prohibiting traffic on the following lengths of road:

  1. That length of the A85 Tyndrum - Oban Trunk Road from its junction with Corran Esplanade, Oban in a generally north-eastwards direction to the junction with Dunollie Road, Oban then in a generally southwards direction along Dunollie Road and George Street, Oban to its junction with Queens Park Place, Oban, a distance of 750 metres or thereby.
  2. That length of the A85 Tyndrum - Oban Trunk Road from its junction with Argyll Square, Oban in a generally north-eastwards direction along Aird’s Place, Oban and then northwards and north-westwards along George Street to Corran Esplanade, Oban, and then northwards along Corran Esplanade, Oban to its junction with the A85 Tyndrum - Oban Trunk Road and the entrance to Corran Halls, Oban, a distance of 830 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required to facilitate the holding of the Oban Winter Festival Parade and to enable members of the public to watch this event will be in operation from 18 November until 19 November. Although the time period for the requested Traffic Order is 1 full day it is anticipated the Parade will only be on the A85 Trunk Road for about 50 minutes from 17:00 hours that day and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles while being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes or a vehicle being used for facilitating the holding of the relevant event.
