The A68 Trunk Road (Leaderfoot) (Temporary Prohibition on Use of Road) (No. 2) Order 2021

The Scottish Ministers give notice that they have made the above Order sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of temporarily prohibiting traffic on that length of the A68 Edinburgh – Carter Bar Trunk Road, from the B6360 Gattonside Junction, going in a generally southerly direction to the Ravenswood Roundabout, a distance of 1.3 kilometres or thereby.

The Order, which is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to works, will be in operation from 11 June until 13 June 2021. It is anticipated that the restrictions will only be in operations for short periods of approximately 2 minutes intervals between the hours of 4pm and 6pm, 5 minute intervals between 6pm and 7pm and a full road closure between the hours of 7pm and 3am and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the lengths of road as are indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes.

Alternative routes

The alternative routes for traffic during the prohibition will be signposted. Detailed descriptions can also be obtained at BEAR Scotland, 6A Dryden Road, Bilston Glen Industrial Estate, Loanhead, Edinburgh, EH20 9LZ.
