Future Direction

The group agreed that the casualty analysis that is being undertaken is essential and that this can be analysed prior to setting future direction, to ensure that there is as much information available as possible.

The chair will engage with members to complete the analysis prior to the next meeting. The chair added that it would be beneficial to arrange a meeting with SCOTS to engage on future direction around safe roads and roadsides.

SF asked the group if there was anything else outside of the UK to enhance the safety of motorcyclists that could be considered in Scotland and advised members to get in touch with Transport Scotland if they would like to put forward.

Members requested that Rider Risk Awareness courses be considered when progressing Road Traffic Diversionary Courses, given recidivism showing in fatality research. A meeting with key stakeholders is taking place on 22nd August to discuss the roll out.
