Evaluation of the Potential Impacts of Increasing Speed Limits for HGVs in Scotland

This report considers the potential impacts on Transport Economic Efficiency (TEE) of an increase in the speed limit for HGVs on single carriageway and dual carriageway roads in Scotland. TEE looked at times savings, Fuel & Vehicle Operating Costs, Wider Public finances, Environmental Impacts and Road Safety impact. This research was limited in scope, and was not intended as a Scottish equivalent of the full Impact Assessment undertaken by the UK DfT prior to the introduction of the HGV speed limit increase in England and Wales.
