Feedback sought on active travel Aviemore to Carrbridge route

Local communities will be able to see and comment on the corridor options that have been developed for the active travel route linking these two communities.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“Transport Scotland is continuing to work with the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA), The Highland Council (THC), Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS) and Sustrans to deliver the Aviemore to Carrbridge non-motorised user route study.

“Public exhibitions are being held on September 25 & 26 to provide an update on the ongoing work and seek feedback on the corridor options that have been developed for a route linking Aviemore and Carrbridge.

“I would urge anyone with an interest in this proposed scheme to attend one of the exhibitions or view the material online and give us their views on the proposed options.”

Pete Crane, the Cairngorm National Park Authority’s Head of Visitor Services said:

“There’s great support from communities across the Strath from Laggan to Grantown-on-Spey for better, safer active travel and we also know from surveys that once here more and more visitors want to get around on bike or foot.

“With regards to the climate emergency we need to drive less and for our own health we need to exercise more so we’re really pleased to see that Transport Scotland want to hear from us all about the best route for a multi-use path from Aviemore to Carrbridge. An off road route that will let us walk and cycle and electric bike more often, more enjoyably and more safely.”
