AWPR - weekend closure for A93 North Deeside Road

A short section of the A93 North Deeside Road is expected to close this weekend to enable the contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project to complete essential surfacing works to the east of the new Bridge.

The contractor is expected to close the road to the east of the new North Deeside Road Bridge from 8pm on Friday 6 October until around 6am on Monday 9 October.

Diversions will be sign-posted. Road users travelling eastbound along the A93 North Deeside Road will turn right at the B979 Milltimber Brae Road, then turn left across the new Milltimber Brae Bridge and continue up Milltimber Brae to re-join the A93 North Deeside Road. The reverse journey will be used for those travelling west.

Access for cyclists, pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained throughout these road closure.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“This weekend closure is required to enable the contractor to complete road surfacing to the east of the new North Deeside Road Bridge. These works have been timed to take place during a weekend to minimise the impact it may have on road users.

“We would like to encourage those drivers who would consider using this route to plan their journey in advance. They should also give themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.

"We thank road users and the local community in advance for their patience during this period."
