AWPR - temporary road closure for Maryculter Road

The contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project is expecting to close the U63K Maryculter Road at Maryculter for around two weeks from 6am Wednesday 23 May.

This closure will enable the contractor to remove a plant crossing point and complete barrier and verge works.

Diversions will be sign-posted. Drivers travelling east should use the U63K Maryculter Road, the B9077 South Deeside Road, C30K Hillside to Batchart Road and C5K Lochton to Auchlunies to Nigg Road The reverse journey is required for those intending to travel west of the closure.

Emergency and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access to residential properties will be maintained, however, a short wait may be required until the vehicle can be safely escorted through the closure area.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said:

“We would like to encourage those drivers who would consider using this route to plan their journey in advance and allow themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.

“We also ask road users to observe all signage and to drive carefully while these works are on-going to ensure their safety, the safety of other road users and of road safety workers.

"We thank road users and the local community in advance for their patience during this period."
