AWPR - Chapel of Stoneywood to Kirkhill Road to close

This road is planned to be permanently closed during the week commencing 25th July 2016 to enable the construction of the AWPR/B-T project to continue.

Access will be maintained from the A96 for businesses and local residents just beyond Chapel Brae cottages. Access for all other businesses and residents on this road will be via Dyce Drive.

An AWPR/B-T project spokesman said:

“Since the made orders were published back in 2010, it has been well-known that the U53C Chapel of Stoneywood to Kirkhill Road will have to permanently close as part of the AWPR/B-T works.

“The community liaison team is in the process of informing affected local residents and the local business community of the upcoming permanent closure of this road. It has also placed signs on the road to notify road users of this change to the road layout.”

An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “ACC is aware of this pending closure which is critical to the AWPR construction works.

“Although this will divert traffic via Dyce Drive, traffic volumes over the summer period will be greatly reduced. When it opens, the new Airport Link road will further alleviate any traffic issues resulting from this closure.”
