Communities across the north-east turned out in their thousands to visit the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/ Balmedie-Tipperty public exhibitions which concluded last week.

Transport Minister Keith Brown today announced a second round of funding totalling £3 million for the Bus Investment Fund (BIF) in a bid to improve Scotland’s bus services.

A significant milestone has been reached on the £9 million Hardgrove to Kinmount Improvement project as the new road fully opened to traffic this week.

More than 1,200 people have attended the first week of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route / Balmedie-Tipperty public exhibitions.

“A £7.4 million investment in road and rail infrastructure around Gleneagles will deliver a lasting transport legacy for local communities,” said Transport Minister Keith Brown during a visit to the Auchterarder area today.

With just a year to go until the first trains are due to take to the tracks, communities on the route of the new Borders Railway are being asked to help organise a launch party worthy of this monumental project.

Road users and communities across the north-east are being given an opportunity to look at the plans for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route / Balmedie-Tipperty scheme through a two-week programme of public exhibitions.

The installation of average speed cameras on the A9 is encouraging safer driving in advance of the cameras being switched on.

The £745m Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie Tipperty project is well on the road to completion today after Transport Minister, Keith Brown announced that ‘Connect Roads’ has been selected as the preferred bidder to deliver this critical project.

Another six million pounds is to be invested on the A83 in Argyll and Bute to mitigate the effects of landslides and improve the performance of the route.
